We have been working with the S58 since the platform was released, and over the years we have learned a lot about what these engines want once you start pushing them past the factory setup.
The KLM Race S58 2.5 cams were developed from that experience. We gave BC the specs and feedback we wanted from the profile, and they manufacture the cams for us using their proven billet steel construction.
These are the cams we currently run in our 1,600+ horsepower shop M2, and they are what we recommend for S58 builds making 1,000 horsepower and up.
They are not designed around one specific turbo. We run them with a Sportsman cover setup in our shop car, but they are just as at home with larger single turbo H-cover combinations.
The 2.5 cams retain factory VANOS and Valvetronic, keep OEM valve clearance, and still behave well in a street-driven car. That said, they are really intended for engines that are going to be pushed and can take advantage of the added camshaft.
If you are building an S58 to make real power, this is the cam profile we chose to run in our own car.
UPGRADED SPRINGS ARE MANDATORY TO RUN THESE CAMS.
